Beach Road

While the kids were in NC we took one evening and drove down the beach road to Pensacola Beach. We had no particular place we were headed, just taking a break from cleaning and tiling. It also happened to be around the same time that Tropical Storm Debby was churning up the Gulf a little.

At one of the stops along the beach road we got to enjoy watching some kite surfing.

They are pretty serious about warning people to stay out of the water.

We decided to stop for drinks at Landshark Landing.

  We were even treated to a pretty great sunset.

 

Bathroom Redo

Hank and I have spent the past three years talking about an attempt at re-doing Tucker's bathroom. So when my parents offered to take the kids back to NC with them in June, we jumped at this opportunity and immediately went to working on his bathroom. It's really just a half bath, but we figured the smallest room would be the easiest and quickest, and hopefully the least expensive. What we thought would possibly take a weekend to complete ended up taking a few days longer. I think the end result was definitely worth it.

 These had to be the ugliest floors ever and weren't even put in correctly.

Art Camp

There are so many fun things offered in our area during the summer for kids. If finances allowed, we could sign them up for something every week of summer I think. Our local art studio offered a week long art camp the week after school got out, and although Sailor wasn't able to attend the full week, she seemed excited with the one morning she was able to attend. The teacher allowed each student to pick out what they wanted to paint, Sailor chose a dog. I am so proud of what a great job she did.
 

Seven

It's hard to believe, but my baby girl turned seven back at the beginning of June. The only thing she had really wanted to do for her birthday was go to Big Kahunas with her friend Emma, which we had to do a couple weeks prior to her birthday due to Emma moving. So in order to try and keep her day special, we still had a cake and presents for her. On her actual birthday we went to Beach Berry, one of the kids favorite ice cream places. She had asked if she could open at least one present while there, which she promptly picked out herself.

She is feeling pretty confident that she just got something new from American Girl.

I LOVE this face! This is truly the face of surprise. For once I'm thankful for saving boxes, she was thrilled with her new ipod touch.

Silly boy

One of the only things Sailor had asked for was dress up dresses. So thankful my mom loves thrift stores and knows how to sew! Sailor now has a new princess wardrobe.

Snapper Season

One of the few disadvantages of living in this beautiful area is the fact that we don't own a boat. And as much as Hank and Tucker love to fish, it makes it a little difficult, especially at times like the opening of snapper season at the beginning of June. However, there are plenty of charter boats in the surrounding areas. Hank had been saving some of his Christmas money and thought this would be the perfect way to spend it, so he and Tucker went out for the day. I'm so thankful for cell phones that take pictures, Hank would never take them otherwise.

I believe there is a two fish per person limit on red snapper, obviously they did pretty good.

While they were off fishing for the day, I took the other two over for some pool time. Amazingly we had both pools to ourselves for a short time.

Navarre High c/o 2012

First let me apologize for not posting a single thing in quite some time. Apparently when the kids got out of school I took the whole "summer vacation" phrase literally. We have just a few weeks left before school starts back so I'm trying to get myself back on some sort of schedule so *fingers crossed* that things will start to get posted again a little more regularly.

 At the beginning of June we had the honor of attending Sarah Beth's graduation from Navarre High. We have known the Marquis family for a lot of years now and it honestly brought me to tears knowing she is old enough to graduate. We are so proud of what she has accomplished and can't wait to see what her college years hold for her!

 Graduation was held in Pensacola at the Civic Center. It sure beat the heck out of graduating on a hot football field like I did. Plenty of seating, no dealing with how many tickets each family is given and most importantly, air conditioning!

End of School Year 2011-2012

Yesterday was the last day of the school year. Luckily, I actually thought to take a picture of the kids before they headed off to school. They have all had such a great year and we are so proud of how hard they worked. Tucker and Sailor both made all A's for the entire year. It's so hard to believe that I am now the mom to a seventh grader and a second grader! Cutter got out of school about two weeks ago, and it totally slipped my mind to take a last day of school picture of him, oops. Guess that what happens with the third child. :( It's pretty neat to see how much they've changed throughout the school year.
