Tropicana Speech

The Tropicana Speech is something each 5th grader here is required to participate in. They have to prepare a speech and then give it in front of their classmates. I remember spending hours with Tucker making sure he met the time requirement. Sailor not only picked her topic and wrote the speech with no help, she never let Hank or myself work with her or help her. So of course she would be the one to get first place for her class! She chose to do her speech on gun control and why we need guns. Her daddy might have been just a little proud. She then went on a school wide competition and although she didn't place in that one, we are sure proud of her.

Honor Society

Tucker received an invitation several months back to apply for the National Honor Society. He had to fill out the required paperwork and list his achievements, volunteer work and grades. It then went to a committee to get voted on. Tucker was a little nervous waiting to hear whether he was accepted or not. Their ceremony was held at the end of April and thankfully Hank and I were both able to attend. We are so proud of how hard he has worked the past two years of high school. I have no doubt he will continue to do great things.

Field trip fun - Gulfarium

Back in April, yes I'm that far behind once again, Cutter got to go on a field trip to the Gulfarium. I was nice enough to volunteer to chaperone. Who doesn't want to take advantage of a trip to the Gulfarium, even if it involves lots of first graders?! Although it was extremely cloudy and a little dreary at times, it was a lot of fun.

The kids absolutely loved the dolphin show.

We got to walk around and learn lots. Cutter and his friend did a great job of reading the information on each tank.
Cloudy day but still not a bad view.

Always a favorite, the touch tank.

Could baby alligators be any cuter?!
These two buddies enjoying the show.

The baby dolphin just turned a year old.

An interesting sign I found in the bathroom. Because you never know what will pop up in a trivia game!
