Braces

The day Tucker has been dreading for quite some time finally came, he got his braces on. He still has some teeth to lose before they are ready to do anything to his bottom teeth but his orthodontist was afraid if they didn't go ahead and start on the top that he wouldn't have room and would have to have some adult teeth pulled later on. I have to say he's just as cute as ever!

Sailor's unique style

Sailor has always had her own idea of how things should look and apparently hair is no different. She loves getting out her styling tools and going to work on any willing participant. Mom, Tucker and I were the three lucky ones recently to get the privilege of being "styled" by her.

Mom apparently didn't need as much work done as Tucker and I did!
Tucker is such a great brother for letting her torture him like that (I see a possible yearbook photo in the future). Cutter even helped by drying everyone's hair.
I had actually been to the salon earlier in the day, apparently Sailor didn't like how it was fixed.

Silly Boy

Cutter has a thing about glasses, any kind of glasses, whether they are his or not. Last week while mom and dad were visiting he managed to trade dad glasses. I managed to grab my camera and get a picture at just the right time, Cutter was trying so hard to focus that his eyes were crossed!

Navigator Club

On the last day of school I had to go to Tucker's school for another awards presentation. This one was for making the Navigator Club for every nine weeks of the school year. I think of the awards Tucker received this is the one he is most proud of.

Out of twelve 5th grade classes, only about 20 students received this award.
Tucker and Morgan both worked extremely hard this year, I am so proud of both of them.

Paddleboarding

One of the things Tucker got to do last week at camp was to try paddleboarding. I have been wanting to try this so much so I am extremely jealous. Tucker said he really enjoyed it and we should check into buying us one, I don't think he realizes how expensive they are. He got to use a yolo yak, which is a combination between a kayak and paddleboard. From the looks of it he did a great job (he's the one in front in the white and navy).

Birthday Girl

For Sailor's birthday this year she had the option of having a party or getting to go to Big Kahuna's, she decided the waterpark sounded like more fun so we settled on a homemade cake and presents here at the house. She opened a few presents on Thursday night once my parents got into town and then opened the remaining gifts on Friday night once we returned from Big Kahuna's.

Sailor has been begging for an American Girl doll, she was thrilled.

Science Camp

This week Tucker is spending his days at the Navarre Beach Marine Science Station for a week of summer camp. This is his second year attending and every day he comes home so excited about the day and looking forward to the next. It is an entire week devoted to the study of marine sciences and fun on the water. The first day they studied invertebrates and went kayaking, the second day they studied fish, worked on their casting, and then went fishing at the pier. A huge thank you to NBMSS for posting pics on photobucket this year so I could see all the fun taking place!

5th grade Promotion

Last Tuesday was Tucker's 5th grade promotion ceremony at school. Lucky for us they decided to promote each individual classroom in the media center rather than the entire 5th grade at one time as there were twelve 5th grade classes. It's so hard to believe that Tucker will be starting middle school in the fall, seems like yesterday he was starting kindergarten. Tucker is looking forward to his new school and all the new challenges that it will bring.

Happy Birthday Sailor!

Six years ago today I gave birth to the most perfect, beautiful, bossy, and strong willed little princess. She has brought so much unimaginable joy and happiness to our lives. Happy Birthday to our favorite little girl!

5th Grade Awards

Yesterday morning was the 5th grade awards presentation at West Navarre Intermediate. Tucker has worked extremely hard this year so I was so pleased to see him and all the other students get recognized. Tucker received the Presidential Outstanding Excellence Award for maintaining at least a 90 average and scoring about 85th percentile on his FCATs, and he received a medal for making all A's throughout the school year. We are so proud of him!

Meeting Guy Harvey

Normally I wouldn't be so anxious to rush home and post something but Tucker was so excited that he wanted us to be able to share with everyone. Last weekend I had read in the paper that Guy Harvey would be in Pensacola at Academy Sports on June 5 to meet people and sign autographs. Needless to say, Tucker was thrilled. We planned to get over there a little early as we were anticipating a pretty big crowd. We were pleasantly surprised to find only about 20 people ahead of us in line. Dr. Harvey also showed up a little early so that made the time go even faster. Tucker was so excited to be able to meet and talk with someone he not only admires but who he is hoping to follow in a similar career path. He was a very nice gentleman and was more than willing to sign several things for Tucker, including the shirt he was wearing. I surprised Tucker with a couple of books that I bought him this week that he was able to get signed as well.

Powerhouse Math

Each year Tucker's school has a Powerhouse Math competition for each grade. They offer a competition for individuals as well as groups. Tucker competed in both events for the 5th grade. For the individual competition he didn't place but for the group competition his group came in 3rd place. His pod (three classes that rotate between teachers) swept the entire competition by having the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place students in both events. We are very proud of him!
